The Cal Vet Home Loan Program has recently updated it’s eligibility requirements so that nearly every Honorably Discharged Veteran wanting to purchase real estate in California can apply.
Your DD-214 must declare an “Honorable Discharge”. Generally, a “Medical Discharge” is acceptable if there was some service-connected disability. Also, “Under Honorable Terms” is generally acceptable. Please call for clarification
No Prior California Residency Restrictions – no matter where you entered the military in the United States, as long as you are wanting to buy a home in California as your primary residence, you qualify for Cal Vet financing
Funds are available for qualifying wartime and peacetime era Veterans as well as applicants currently serving honorably on Active Duty
VA loans are Reusable – Veterans who used the VA or Cal Vet Home Loan Program previously may obtain another new loan, subject to current eligibility and funding requirements. The benefit lasts for the duration of the Veteran’s lifetime.
